This ambulance saved my life and the life of my child. I was in labour when my husband called, and the ambulance quickly arrived to take me to the Hawa-Dembaya maternity where I safely gave birth to a baby girl.

Says Habi Touré with emotion, a patient from the community of Hawa-Dembaya.

In Mali, according to the Demographic and Health Survey 2012-2013, the maternal mortality index is 368 deaths per 100,000 live births. In the community of Hawa-Dembaya, many pregnant women risk their lives and the life of their babies due to the lack of ambulances or affordable ambulance services. The delay in arrival at health facilities, and the delay in the provision of adequate care has been identified as major factors of maternal mortality.

Albatros Energy Mali is commited to achieve a zero preventable child-mother death rate in the Hawa-Dembaya community.

Albatros goals to prevent child-mother death
  • Make sure that all pregnant women in need get free ambulance service to deliver their babies at the nearest medical center.
  • Commit to a 24-hour standby response for medical emergencies.
  • Raise enough funds to purchase the ambulance and provide reliable maintenance.
  • Have qualified ambulance drivers.
