This ambulance saved my life and the life of my child. I was in labour when my husband called, and the ambulance quickly arrived to take me to the Hawa-Dembaya maternity where I safely gave birth to a baby girl.
In Mali, according to the Demographic and Health Survey 2012-2013, the maternal mortality index is 368 deaths per 100,000 live births. In the community of Hawa-Dembaya, many pregnant women risk their lives and the life of their babies due to the lack of ambulances or affordable ambulance services. The delay in arrival at health facilities, and the delay in the provision of adequate care has been identified as major factors of maternal mortality.
Albatros Energy Mali is commited to achieve a zero preventable child-mother death rate in the Hawa-Dembaya community.
