Nowadays, technology plays a huge role in all facets of life, we always turn to computers to access information, create and express ourselves, communicate and collaborate, and track the achievement of learning outcomes.
Unfortunately, the computer room was not operational, due to outstanding electricity bills, lack of funding for teachers and securing the financing of the ongoing costs (electricity, internet, teach, salary, etc.).
To complete the ongoing project, Albatros Energy worked with partners to provide quality education and access to digital technologies. The outstanding bills, as well as the acquisition of a new prepaid electricity meter have been funded by Albatros and is no longer an issue. Furthermore, Albatros recruited a computer science teacher who trained each 12th grade student in Microsoft Word, Excel and the use of the internet. In 2019, 120 students received a training. The objective of this training is to provide the students of the Hawa-Dembaya community with basic computer skills in order to enhance their level of education and finally better prepare them when accessing the job market.
At Albatros Energy, we believe that the capacity of digitalization to shape students life experiences grows with them, offering seemingly limitless opportunities to learn and to socialize, to be counted and to be heard. Moreover, Digital technologies can deliver economic opportunity by providing young people with training opportunities and job-matching services, and by creating new kinds of work.
